Soto Mission of San Francisco, SOKOJI

Founded in 1934, Soto Mission of San Francisco, Sokoji, started in a Jewish synagogue at 1881 Bush Street. Despite closure during WWII, congregation members supported the temple's relocation in 1984 to 1691 Laguna Street.

Today, Sokoji stands as a symbol of Japanese architectural style, welcoming people of all backgrounds to practice Soto Zen beliefs and Zazen meditation.
